Well, not really… or perhaps not yet, but I did finally manage to find a “free” hour to sit and watch Lec 1 | MIT 600 Introduction to Computer Science and Programming, Fall 2008. In this youtube video Prof. Eric Grimson from MIT gives a short introduction to computer science and programming. The lecture was very smooth and even amusing in certain parts, and I really liked prof. Grimson’s teaching style. I think I’ll follow the rest of recorded course and watch all of the lectures in the course of this semester and see how it goes. This video is part of MIT’s open course ware program which gives away for free lecture notes, exams, and videos from MIT classes. After watching the lecture I realized that with this opencourseware (I like the name also, very catchy) is such a generous and immensely important contribution to the public made by MIT. The Open University of Israel (OUI) where I am getting my BA these days is the first academic institution in Israel to join this worldwide trend toward providing access to knowledge for the public good. If you read Hebrew you better check out Pe’er project , it’s not MIT, but it is offer variety of courses in Hebrew and for FREE. Have a look for yourself check out MIT’s Channel on Youtube.
