Living on the edge (of the canal)

Between 2002-2005 we lived in one of the most inspiring cities in the whole world. Leiden, the Netherlands.

Leiden, 2004Leiden

Our 1.5 bedrooms apartment was right on the canal on Vliet street. The building, so we were told, was built around 13th century, and somewhere in history he was use as a Jewish orphans home, but before WE moved in, it was a tattoo parlor, where our friend Verb used to work.

We used the smallest room as a bedroom, and joined the other room to be a kitchen-living room-studio sort of a room. One day we got a huge isle from a friend and put it right in the middle of our kitchen-living room-studio. The smell of pigments, paint thiner and oils was intoxicating and blended with the smells of our cookings, which made us hungry for eating as well as painting.
