Yesterday we went to an exhibition opening of a dear friend of ours, and one of the most talented artist we have ever had the privilege to meet, Zvi Malnovitzer.
We arrived to the opening in Jerusalem at 19:00 exactly, the exact time that was written on the invitation, and the Mayanot Gallery was already crowded with people. There were three musicians at the door who played cheerful music on an accordion, a clarinet and a violin. Zvi and his wife and also Yael, the gallery owner, were greeting people at the entrance. The atmosphere was one of celebration, all those people came to celebrate with Zvi over 30 years of amazing creation. It was with out doubt a great opening, inspiring opening even. The artworks themselves were stunning. The light seemed to come from within the paintings themselves and not from those little spots of lighting the gallery had. The brilliance of the oud-holland paints (which I believe is the most expensive brand of oil paints there is, because of its high pigments level) that were masterfully applied to the canvases with great sensitivity, it felt like we have gone back in time and landed in an opening of one the Old Masters. Zvi Malnovitzer is a Master, and me and Tal dream of the day when we could afford one of his beautiful self portraits.
I have downloaded this video that Zvis’ son made from Mayanot gallery website, and put it here in for your enjoyment.
