Designing the prototype – project ftir p#1

I’m working on my own FTIR project, an interactive multi-touch table.
So after digging up from the web as much information about this subject as I could, I started by making a plan.
First, design. I opened SketchUp and drew a few sketches for my table. Here are a few of them.

I bought I.R LED ribbon (390 I.R LEDs spread over 5M ribbon) and a power source from the Internet, and now I am looking for the best material to project video over. Normally people just coat a thick acrylic sheet, but I think that a sand blasted clear acrylic might work better for my application. I’m going to do some experiments and of course take pictures of the whole process for you to see. will publish a follow up on this soon.
